First Tournament For Enthusiastic U9 Team
While we may have finally finished the laundry from the tournament weekend, the memories will last forever. Our little U9 Royals played their hearts out and they also opened their hearts to new friends!
You see, that’s the thing with tournament weekends, it’s not only about the time on the ice, it’s about the hallway snacks, the jumping on beds, sharing a tablet screen together in their jammies and eating only two bites of their butter pasta at the team dinner because they are laughing too much. It’s about feeling a tiny bit of independence walking with a friend to go down to another friends room, and the parents getting to see firsthand these types of interactions that don’t happen from just inviting one friend over to their house. They get to see the big girl their little girl is growing up to be.
Ok, now back to the ice! First and foremost, while many of the girls may not have wanted to get on the ice wearing goalie gear, they took their turn, faced their fears and impressed us all again and again!! It was so energizing (oh wait that may also have been the 4th coffee of the day #rinklife) to watch the team work together and shine.
On the last day, we were so happy to have the opportunity to see the U18 team play in the finals, and they certainly did shine! What a magical moment for our girls to see them take home the gold and celebrate with them afterwards. We couldn’t have asked for anything better to motivate our team to keep rocking that hockey life and dream big! What a way to end the weekend! #GOROYALSGO
