Head Coach

There are mandatory certifications and/or training as per the Ontario Woman’s Hockey Association (OWHA), for head coach positions.

The minimum requirements include:

• Coach 1 Certification for ALL Coach and Assistant Coaches 

• Coach 2 Certification for Head Coach (U11 and up)

• Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check 

• Completion of Respect in Sport – Activity Leader (available online through the OWHA website).  This is different from the Respect in Sport – Parent edition

•  An interview with members of the Executive Board

Certification courses are available during the summer months and early fall for successful candidates.  Refer to Bench Staff Reference Material page for available course dates/times.
